Conceived on Father's Day and launched on Mom's birthday, this is the premiere issue of the Upper East Cider, an interactive multimedia publication produced on an Apple from the Big Apple. Although not newsworthy--it happens every year--Mom's birthday gives this new e-zine life! Expect to see Mom, a/k/a Pina, featured in this e-zine again when we cover her artwork, selling at the frame shop across the avenue from the Yorkville Post Office at 91st and 3rd. This e-zine may reach around the world, but its features will pertain to our community, Yorkville. You, too, can be featured here. Email me with your comments, story suggestions and questions. As this e-zine grows, the left and right columns will fill up with features to get the juices flowing. Copyright, trademark, etc., etc. are through the pipeline. Now with the legalities out of the way, it's onto the content. This will be a political, satirical, informative, fun e-zine. Look for issues on topics such as Privacy on the Internet: Putting Your Life Online, which is already published under our Do Your Job section. There will be serial cartoons, stories, news, tips (re: art, computers, and the law), and political bombshells. Visit Purr-adise for some inspirational poetry and pictures of God's creatures. Look for the latest news and copies of the actual court records regarding the Mitchell-Lama suit to appear in a special section. I invite you all to contribute to this e-zine. Soon we will have audio files, video files, live cams, community meetings (group chats), message boards and other powerful tools to focus our political will and our good will. All this will happen just as soon as my brother, John, the engineer, uses science known only to 12 year olds and the Roswell aliens to set it up for us. If you ever need to resequence your DNA or do that thing where you make two fractions have the same denominator, John is the mathematical genius with a computer code for everything. So, new issues of the Upper East Cider will be published once a week and sometimes sooner. But today is Mom's birthday as well as this e-zine's. Happy Birthday, Mom and Upper East Cider!
