You will also get an insight into a new writing style used by lawyers and ethicists alike. This is a very important assignment. MATERIALS NEEDED: You will need the following items to complete this assignment. 1.) The Chat Transcript of the Ad Exec. 2.) The article "Cloaking Pedophilia." 3.) The handout of two "pro and con" essays responding to the article (no. 2 above). 4.) The class notes you have made summarizing public policy. INSTRUCTIONS: The assignment is two-fold: I. Identify the better argument. A.) Read the article "Cloaking Pedophilia" and the two "pro and con" essays. B.) Answer this question: Of the two "pro and con" essays, which essay do you think is better written--more persuasive? Put a star next to the title of that essay to indicate you believe it is the more persuasive essay. II. Redact one essay with a quote from the ad exec and a public policy. A.) Pick one of the two "pro and con" essays based on whichever one you believe is closest to your own opinion. B.) Comb through the chat transcript for a quote that fits into that essay. C.) Look through your notes for a public policy concept that fits into that essay. D.) Add both the quote and the public policy to the essay. E.) Revise the essay: (1) correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation; and (2) cut words, phrases, sentences or paragraphs to stay below a 250 word limit. Write your changes right on the handout in the space available with standard editting marks. SPECIAL NOTE: Turn in this redacted essay. Be prepared to explain in class your decisions.
