The event can be best understood by using an orange to represent the Earth, or any heavenly body.  Due to an imbalance in the centripetal forces acting on a rotating object (the orange in this example); conditions can exist to cause the skin of the orange to separate from the meat of the orange, rotate to a new location, and then reattach.

On a planetary scale, this would cause the destruction described in the Bible and other texts.  Since most believe a gravity anomoly will cause the separation, I chose to remove the various layers of the Earth to see how well anchored the land masses are.  This led to the extraction of topology and thickness data from government sources, and the production of (the only!) images for the topology of the Earth beneath the outer surface.
