BACK July`03 Trip (Oh My God!)
EMAIL

Ah, Morning's here.

Ahhhhhh, I'm Stuck!
Almost passed out twice digging under/behind the tracks.
Downed two gallons of ice water and sweated every ounce.

The idea was to put logs under the tracks and let the tracks pull them under -- hopefully breaking the suction and freeing the beast.
Instead, I went on a scaventure hunt with Billy; my mechanic. He knows everybody.
We found Harry who lead us to Steve and within 40 minutes a D5 CAT was freeing the beast.

These are the watery graves the tracks left behind.

The trip would not be complete without snapping the blade's cable on the following day.
Since there are no brakes, dropping the blade is an affective way of stopping when on any type of grade.
Fortunately, it broke off at the drum end, so only a foot of cable lost.
The drum free spins to lower the blade, but it is clutched and can be let down slower to avoid this problem.
